Equicel is a highly oxidized form of cellulose. Upon contact with the blood, it will absorb it and eventually dissolve into a gelatinous type material. By briefly applying pressure at this point, the material will adhere to the bleeding site resulting in a hemostatic effect. Completely absorbed in body after one week. Neutral pH so will not inactivate prothrombin. Bactericidal against wide range of bacteria. No Kaolin so can be safely buried and left. Can be trimmed and sutured. Sterile.
